Many friends enjoy getting together over cocktails, and that includes the founders of Mission Craft Cocktails. They loved this tradition so much that they decided to turn it into a business. Not only that, but they’re also using their venture as a way to give back to the community. Here’s more about the company and its mission in this week’s Small Business Spotlight.
What the Business Does
Mission Craft Cocktails creates bottled craft cocktails and donates 5 percent of its profits to charity.
Co-founder Amit Singh said, “We are a purpose-driven company that just so happens to make great cocktails!”
Business Niche
They aim to create a significant impact.
Singh explains, “Our 5 percent donation is much larger than what most companies in the industry offer, even though the corporate norm is only 1 percent. To date, we’ve funded over 27,000 meals for families in need in California.”
How the Business Got Started
The business was born out of a desire to give back during the pandemic.
Singh shares, “Our venture started as a passion project between two best friends who love craft cocktails but couldn’t find any during COVID. The lockdown inspired Marcin and me to find ways to give back to our community. We focused on using our entrepreneurial skills to create a sustainable giving model, rather than making smaller, one-time donations.”
Biggest Win
Earning a special industry recognition.
Singh mentions, “We’ve had many small wins in sales, but our biggest emotional win was being selected as one of only two brands to join the Jack Daniels and Uncle Nearest incubator program for 2024. It validated our business approach and our mission.”
Biggest Risk
Buying materials in bulk.
Singh says, “The biggest risk for us was purchasing bulk spirits before scaling up our production or having enough consumer demand. To grow and manage future orders, we bought large quantities of whiskey and tequila well before we had a proven business model. We believed in our product and purpose, and that consumers would support us.”
Fun Fact
They’re not just business partners; they’re like family.
Singh adds, “We’re two best friends who started a business because we love cocktails. Our families hang out and vacation together, and our lives are now deeply interconnected through family, business, and our shared dream of making an impact as we grow this business.”
