This week, small businesses shine with resilience and strength

In celebration of the American ideal that anyone from anywhere in our great nation can turn an idea into a business, we kick off National Small Business Week. As we continue navigating the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the Trump Administration remains deeply committed to helping every American entrepreneur stay viable, recover, and thrive once again.

Through our extensive, all-encompassing economic response to the coronavirus, this Administration has prioritized the small business sector. We’ve provided nearly three-quarters of a trillion dollars in timely economic relief to millions of struggling small businesses and their employees.

I am confident that our nation’s more than 30 million small businesses, which employ nearly half of the private-sector workforce and create two-thirds of all new jobs, will once again drive our economy to the prosperity we enjoyed over the past three years.

Thanks to tax cuts and pro-growth policies, our nation’s small businesses have played a crucial role in revitalizing economically distressed areas. This Administration worked with Congress to designate thousands of Opportunity Zones in underserved communities, creating unprecedented economic opportunities. We’ve made significant progress in fostering entrepreneurship among underrepresented groups, including women, minorities, and veterans, with Latinos now being the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs.

We acknowledge the resilience and creativity of all the small business owners who adapted their business models during the pandemic to serve their communities and keep employees on payroll.

We take great pride in recognizing and honoring our National Small Business Week winners. From a brewery owner in Colorado, a water treatment exporter in Florida, to a facilities management firm in West Virginia, our state and specialty winners represent a diverse range of outstanding small business owners who are working towards a better future for their families and communities.

It’s crucial that we continue supporting small businesses both locally and nationally, which is why this week and these awards hold such importance.

This Administration will keep investing in small business owners and promoting solutions that make it easier for them to achieve their goals. Entrepreneurs have no stronger ally than the White House and no better advocate for their success than the U.S. Small Business Administration.

During this National Small Business Week, we celebrate the successes of our entrepreneurs who have charted their own course to provide good jobs and a promising future for millions of American workers. This Administration won’t stop until our nation’s small businesses fully recover, prosper, and resume their vital role as job creators in our economy.
