Did you know that April 23-29, 2017, is National Volunteer Week? This special week is all about promoting and honoring those who volunteer in our communities, and it encourages volunteerism across the country.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is thrilled to celebrate National Volunteer Week by recognizing all of the SCORE volunteer mentors who help entrepreneurs succeed. These dedicated individuals give their time and share their experiences to create the next generation of small business owners, boosting the American economy.
SCORE is the nation’s largest network of expert business mentors who volunteer their services. With over 10,000 volunteers and more than 300 chapters nationwide, SCORE offers free and confidential business counseling and workshops to both current and aspiring small business owners. These volunteers assist with starting businesses, solving business problems, and growing businesses, all of which help ignite the nation’s economy by creating jobs and building wealth.
SCORE volunteer mentors specialize in various industries, including Restaurants and Hospitality, Government Contracting, Entertainment, Web-Based Services, Construction, and Farming and Agriculture. They are trained to help people understand all aspects of business ownership, from taxes and human resources to marketing.
Volunteering doesn’t just impact those who are being helped. A study by the Corporation for National and Community Service found that volunteering also benefits the volunteers themselves.
If you’re interested in making a difference, consider volunteering with SCORE.
